Phillip Caruso had a good working relationship with Sharon Stone, who never asked him to leave the set. He says that actors sometimes ask the still photographer to leave if they don't trust them, know them, think they are incompetent, or if the photographer thinks that the lighting is set up for them and not the film. Caruso was once called in to replace a still photographer who had been fired, after which the director expressed relief that he didn't have to worry about the stills for the movie anymore.
